Vivian self-studied for the MCAT during the summer before her senior year while working as a resident assistant and scored a 522 (99th percentile). She will attend medical school in North America during the fall of 2021.
Vivian is passionate about teaching and mentorship. Inspired by her extraordinary research mentors whose passion for science was contagious, she became a resident assistant, a teaching assistant for Writing 101, and a math workshop mentor for middle school girls in Durham as part of an education research study that aimed to bridge the gender gap in STEM. More recently, she has worked as an online English tutor for non-native English speakers. Vivian believes that the best mentors not only share resources pertinent to their students’ goals but also foster lasting confidence in their students.
Having grown up across the US, Canada, and Germany, Vivian loves meeting new people, learning about their stories, and cultivating a sense of community wherever she goes. Her home is in Germany, which is where she is currently spending her gap year. In her free time, Vivian loves yoga, kickboxing classes, and bonding with friends through karaoke. Dumplings are her favorite food because they’re delicious and in making them, they bring people together.
