Our Approach
The first thing we do is learn about your needs, schedule, and experience with the USMLE Steps so we can match you with a tutor who best suits your specific needs and learning style.
At Tutor the People, we take pride in our individualized approach to private USMLE prep. Instead of following a one-size-fits-all approach with generic lesson plans, our tutors take the time to create customized strategies that are proven to help you succeed. We want to make sure that you learn and understand the material instead of training you to just memorize standardized answers, that way you’re more likely to retain the information and handle anything thrown your way on exam day. Our tutors take the time to listen to your concerns, problems, and history with the USMLE so that together you can map out a plan that will lead to higher scores and greater understanding.
We offer group USMLE prep plans both online and in-person to match your busy lifestyle and personal learning needs. If you prefer a group environment, no problem! Groups are formed on an as-needed basis, so whenever you and your classmates are ready to take your USMLE prep to the next level, we can help.
When the time comes for you to start your USMLE prep, some of the information we seek includes:
-
1Which step of the USMLE are you currently studying for?
-
2If you've already taken an USMLE exam, how did you score?
-
3Have you started your USMLE prep?
-
4Do you have a test date scheduled?
-
5Have you taken any USMLE practice tests?
-
6What areas do you feel you struggle with?
-
7What areas do you feel you are strong in?
-
8What are your best days/times to meet with a tutor?
-
9Do you prefer in-person or online tutoring?
New to USMLE prep? Here’s some information about the USMLE®:
The United States Medical Licensing Examinations (USMLE) is the set of exams that all MD graduates must take in order to practice medicine in the United States. The USMLE is broken up into 3 steps (see below) that are administered at various times during your schooling and residency.
Each test is sponsored by the Federations of State Medical Boards (FSMB) and the National Board of Medical Examiners (NBME), and is carefully designed to evaluate a candidate’s skills, knowledge, and ability to apply important concepts to their medical practice.
Don’t know where to start?
We’re here to help! In addition to helping you set up a customized study schedule, your personal tutor will help you determine what your strengths and weaknesses are so you know how to plan out your USMLE step prep.
Below is a breakdown of what you will face when you take the USMLE:
