Step 1

When you first sign up for an SIE test prep package, the first thing we are going to do is take some time to learn about your tutoring needs, schedule, and academic strengths and weaknesses. We do this through practice tests and one-on-one interviews to understand your situation. This way we can match you with a tutor who complements your specific needs and learning style.

Step 2

While other SIE tutoring programs just focus on the exam’s content, we believe that it is equally important to focus on strategy and logic. We want to make sure that you are comfortable with anything the test can throw at you so there are no surprises on exam day. Our expert tutors also focus on giving you the study tools necessary to prepare you for whichever qualification exam you will be taking after the SIE.

Step 3

We don’t just want you to memorize some facts, we want you to become comfortable with the material. Some of the questions you’ll face on test day are designed to be confusing. By incorporating practice problems and practice tests into every student study plan, we help you get comfortable with the question styles you will encounter on the real SIE. We’ll also work on strategies to relieve testing anxiety to help ensure that exam day is as stress-free as possible.

When the time comes for you to start your SIE prep, some of the information we’ll need includes:

New to SIE prep? Here’s some information about the SIE:

You will have 1 hour and 45 minutes to complete the 75 questions that make up the Security Industry Essentials (SIE) exam. There will also be 10 pre-test questions sprinkled throughout the exam sections that do not count toward your final score. The questions will be in a multiple-choice style format and will be broken up into four categories:

• Knowledge of Captial Markets (16%)
• Understanding Products and Their Risks (44%)
• Understanding Trading, Customer Accounts, and Prohibited Activities (31%)
• Overview of Regulatory Framework (9%)

The SIE is designed to test a student’s knowledge of basic security industry information so that future employers can assess whether you are the right fit for their company. There are no pre-requisites for this exam and you do not have to be affiliated with a FINRA company in order to register.

What about the Series exams?

The SIE is a relatively recent exam designed to take the place of parts of the original Series exams. The remaining Series exams are now used as qualification exams after you complete the SIE. While you no longer have to be affiliated with FINRA in order to take the SIE, you do have to be associated with a FINRA member in order to take these top-off exams.
