Our Approach to Vancouver MCAT Tutoring
We start off by learning about each individual student’s experience studying for the MCAT since learning is extremely nuanced. We want to understand our students’ history and struggles with the fundamental sciences that are tested. We have found that no two MCAT students are on the same page. Some of the information we seek includes:
-
1When did you begin your MCAT prep?
-
2Did you write the old MCAT?
-
3Have you written an official MCAT test before?
-
4Have you written a full-length MCAT practice test?
-
5How did you score on each section?
-
6Are you struggling with content?
-
7Are you struggling with strategy?
-
8What are your best days/times of availability to meet with an MCAT tutor?
-
9How frequently do you want to meet with your MCAT tutor?
-
10Have you registered for an upcoming MCAT test date?
After we learn about the student and her/his experience with the exam, our team then matches you with the best MCAT tutor who matches your availability and your specific MCAT needs.
We also offer small group MCAT tutoring. The groups are formed on an as-needed basis, so whether you are an individual looking to form a group or a group of friends/classmates who want to save some money on MCAT prep, just contact us to form a MCAT study group.
Our Vancouver MCAT tutoring takes a customized approach with every student. Our tutors create a unique study plan for each student, one that is tailored to the student’s strengths and areas of improvement. In addition, we provide free AAMC® test prep materials with all of our study packages.

Our Tutors are Superhuman
Sometime ago MCAT prep became a product, with huge companies focused on meager average score increases. One medical student was unsatisfied with the status quo and co-founded Tutor the People with the goal of personalizing MCAT prep based on the needs of the individual student, not the needs of a focus group. We hire tutors who not only receive top scores on the MCAT, but also have a passion and skill for teaching their students how to recreate their success on test day.

Medical and Pre-Medical Faculties in Vancouver and British Columbia
Vancouver is the most populous city in British Columbia and the third largest metropolitan area in Canada. It is commonly known as the “Beta global city.” A beautiful city surrounded by water, it is a very inspiring environment to learn and live.
Located in the breathtaking Pacific Northwest, British Columbia is home to the highly competitive University of British Columbia Faculty of Medicine (UBC), ranked third overall by Maclean’s in 2018. With a fifteen percent acceptance rate and a minimum MCAT 2015 score of 124 on all four sections written on a single exam, MCAT prep is especially important if you are considering UBC’s Faculty of Medicine. Applicants must be Canadian citizens or permanent residents of Canada, and all accepted students spend their first semester at the Point Grey Campus in Vancouver before matriculating into one of UBC’s three distributed medical education sites across British Columbia, each of which is designed to expose students to medically underserved communities throughout British Columbia.
As to be expected, UBC’s Faculty of Medicine requires its applicants to be above the 85% of academic average. They have equally high expectations for applicants’ MCAT scores. In order to be considered, applicants must score a 124 or above on every section of the MCAT, and they no longer accept scores from the old MCAT. UBC only admits Canadian students, giving preference to its local British Columbia neighbors.
The UBC-Okanagan Campus houses the Southern Medical Program (SMP), located in Kelowna. This program places an emphasis on family medicine in the often-underserved areas of British Columbia’s interior. Students have a wide range of research options during their course of study, outlined here on the school’s website.
Moving further up in longitude, the Northern Medical Program (NMP) at the University of Northern British Columbia in Prince George offers students the opportunity to focus on the underserved communities in rural areas of Northern BC, much like the Southern Medical Program. Research opportunities abound at the NMP but are especially focused on health epidemiology as it relates to the northern regions of British Columbia.
The Island Medical Program (IMP) at the University of Victoria focuses primarily on the healthcare related hurdles that mid-sized urban island communities, as well as rural and coastal villages, face, including working with elderly and Aboriginal peoples. The IMP’s close proximity to Vancouver allows students access to a wide array of research opportunities relating to Vancouver Island, mingling metropolitan community needs with those of a smaller, more intimate patient base.
There are many great places to study pre-medical sciences in British Columbia. Selkirk College offers a unique opportunity for students to immerse themselves in a rural environment to learn more about becoming a small town physician.
Washington State University in Vancouver also offers a comprehensive pre-med curriculum. Their supportive advising staff will do all they can to help you gain acceptance to medical school.
Practice Makes Perfect!
Many students feel confident in the content of the MCAT but struggle with strategy and overall maintaining their cool during the 7-hour 45-minute exam. Successfully applying this scientific and medical knowledge to a standardized test is extremely complex. In addition to providing some of the best MCAT prep, we make sure that every student is practicing on AAMC questions. It is crucial that students repeat and practice MCAT sample questions throughout their prep. Our tutors provide students with helpful tricks and strategies for taking the computer-based, standardized MCAT exam.
Check out our CASper test prep section where we provide detailed information about the Computer-Based Assessment for Sampling Personal Characteristics.
