The first thing we do is learn about your goals, learning needs, schedule, and experience with the IELTS. This way we can match you with a tutor who will best suit you.
Once you have been matched with a tutor, you will meet with them to begin planning out your IELTS preparation course. In order to provide effective and personalized private IELTS tutoring, it is important that we understand your goals and areas of focus for this exam. By creating a study plan along with your tutor, you will be able to work with a completely custom plan that is designed in every way to match your needs. We want to make sure that you learn and understand the material instead of training you to just memorize standard answers and phrases. This way you’re more likely to retain the information so you can use your new English skills on the test, but also in your new career or while you socialize with friends.
Once you begin to create your plan for your IELTS prep, your tutor will begin introducing practice questions and practice tests to help you get comfortable with the format of the IELTS. They will also teach you testing strategies to help relieve test anxiety and ensure that exam day will be as stress-free as possible.
If you prefer a group environment, we can also create a group IELTS prep course online or in-person to match your busy lifestyle. Groups are formed on an as-needed basis, so whenever you and your classmates are ready to take your IELTS prep to the next level, we can help.
When the time comes for you to start your IELTS prep, some of the information we seek includes:

New to IELTS prep? Here’s some information about the IELTS:
The International English Language Testing System (IELTS) is a way of assessing a person’s proficiency with the English language. It is designed for people who want to work or study in a place where English is the dominant language.
There are two versions of this test:
The IELTS Academic – for students applying for higher education
The IELTS General Training – for those immigrating to Australia, Canada, and the UK–or applying for secondary education, training programs, or work in an English language dominant environment.
Both test types have the same assessment sections (Listening, Speaking, Reading, and Writing), however, the subject matter of the Reading and Writing sections will differ depending on which test type you are taking. For a complete breakdown of each test section, take a look at the official IELTS website.

Frequently Asked Questions
Why take the IELTS test?
There are many reasons to take the IELTS, but it will mostly depend on your goals. If you plan on immigrating to certain English speaking countries, you may be required to take the IELTS to pass the immigration process. Other times employers, universities, and government agencies may require it before admitting you into their programs.
What is a good IELTS score?
Your final IELTS score will be given in a “band” format. This means the test creators have a specific way of adding together all of your correct marks (which could be around 82+) and converting this into a banded grade of 1-9. A good score on the IELTS could be anywhere between 7.5-9.
How can I practice for the IELTS test at home?
One of the best ways to practice for the IELTS is through sample questions and practice tests. You can find sample questions for each category here. This will help you become accustomed to the format of the IELTS so you know what to expect on your test day.
Do I really need IELTS tutoring?
The IELTS is unlike any other academic exam you may have taken before because this is an assessment of your language skills. This means there is not really any content that you can memorize to score well. Instead, you need to work on practicing those English language skills through speaking with and getting feedback from somebody who understands all of the complexities of the English language. The best way to get that practice is to work with somebody who can correct you in real-time and help explain the nuances that can make English such a difficult language.
What kind of questions will be on the IELTS?
The IELTS has four main sections: Listening, Reading, Writing, and Speaking. Each section has different tasks and question formats you must respond to complete it. For a complete breakdown of the types of questions you will see on the exam, take a look at the IELTS test format page.
