On The Test

The FAR section of the CPA exam is going to be broken down in the following ways:

Conceptual Framework, Standard-Setting and Financial Reporting 25–35%
Select Financial Statement Accounts 30–40%
Select Transactions 20–30%
State and Local Governments 5–15%

The purpose of this section is to test the student’s knowledge of concepts and standards for financial statements, typical items in financial statements, specific types of transactions and events, accounting and reporting for governmental agencies, and accounting and reporting for non-governmental and not-for-profit organizations. This is done through multiple choice style questions as well as task-based simulations meant to test the student’s ability to quickly process real-life scenarios.

You will have 4 hours to complete this exam, though you don’t have to take the full time if you do not want to. The exam will be administered on a computer in a specified testing center. It will be broken up into 5 testlets (shown below) and you will have an optional 15-minute break after the third testlet where you can pause the exam timer. Each testlet is not individually timed, so it is up to the student to manage their own time during the exam in order to cover everything.

The 5 testlets that make up the CPA FAR section are:

  1. 33 Multiple Choice Questions
  2. 33 Multiple Choice Questions
  3. 2 Task-Based Simulations
  4. 3 Task-Based Simulations
  5. 3 Task-Based Simulations
Success Stories
I worked with Chris to pass the CPA exam (Reg) and it really made a difference. He gave me the confidence to study and pass the exam. It was easy to deal with Tutor the People and since I did not use up all of my hours they easily refunded what was left over. I would recommend any of my friends use this service.

I used this company to help me with the CPA exam. The tutor I used, Dan, was amazing. He gave me great study strategies and worked me through lots of problems that helped me pass the FAR section after failing it 3 times. We used Skype to conduct the tutoring sessions. Overall, I am so grateful for using this tutoring company. Trust me, it's worth the price.
