Our Tutors Are Superhuman
At some point in time, PREP, PEP, and CFE tutoring became a product, with massive companies focused on minimal, average score increases. Unsatisfied with the status quo, Tutor the People was founded with the goal of personalizing CFE test prep based on the needs of the individual student, not the needs of a focus group. We hire tutors who not only received top scores on the CFE exam but also have a passion and skill for teaching their students how to recreate this success on test day.
Free Introductory Hour
We include a Free Introductory Hour with the purchase of any of our Canada CPA prep study packages. Every student is unique in their CPA education. Use the Free Intro Hour to personalize your study strategy, before beginning your plan hours.
A Team Of Experts Dedicated To Your Success
Our tutors are dedicated to helping you prepare for every step of your CPA journey so you know exactly what to expect on exam day. All of our expert tutors are top-percentile scoring former CFE students, which means they’ve been exactly where you are now. Our expert tutors know everything it takes to ace this exam, and they’re here to help you succeed.

You create your plan
We pride ourselves in taking a personalized approach to CFE prep. When you sign up for one of our tutoring packages, the first thing we’ll do is get to know you. We’ll ask about your experience with the PREP/PEP program and the CFE, concerns, goals, and learning style, so we can match you with the perfect tutor for your needs.
Your tutor will then work with you to create a custom study plan designed to fit your goals and schedule. Whether you have some experience with the material already or are starting from scratch, our expert tutors are here to help set you up for success. During your study prep, your tutor will help you understand the logic behind the test as well as teach you proven test-taking strategies so you’ll be prepared for anything the CFE can throw at you.
When the time comes for you to start your CFE prep, some of the information we seek includes:
1Where are you in your CFE studies?
2Are you currently in the PREP or PEP program?
3Are you just now beginning your CFE prep?
4Have you taken a CFE practice test?
5How did you score?
6Are you struggling with content?
7Are you struggling with strategy?
8What are your best days/times to meet with a CPA tutor?
New To CFE Prep? Here’s some information about what it takes to be a CPA:
For Non-Accounting Majors
If you graduated with a 4-year degree in something other than accounting (or similarly related field), then you will be starting with a PREP program. PREP stands for “Prerequisite Education Program”, and it is specifically designed for non-accounting majors and international candidates by helping you make up for missing accounting courses.
For your PREP, you have 2 route options:
- You can take a training position through your employer that has been pre-approved to help you meet all of the practical experience requirements within 30 months.
- Complete an experience verification assessment.
For Accounting Majors or Student’s Who Have Finished Their PREP Program
The PEP (Professional Education Program) is a master’s level program for accounting students who have completed all of the steps in the CPA Competency MAP as well as 120 credit hours of education. If you finished a PREP program, you can also now begin your PEP.
The PREP Program is broken up into a series of modules and exams:
- 2 Core Modules – 6 core technical competencies including financial reporting, strategy and governance, management accounting, audit and assurance, finance and taxation
- 2 Electives – Assurance, performance management, OR tax and finance
- 1 Capstone – Preparation for the CFE
Becoming a CPA is one of the most intimidating, exhausting, and amazing things you can do.
The Common Final Examination
After completing your PREP and PEP programs, you will have the opportunity to take the CFE (Common Final Examination). This is the final stage for anybody pursuing their CPA qualification. The CFE is a 3-day examination designed to test your competency and mental stamina.
- 4 hours
- Write a case in relation to the Capstone 1 group project
- 5 hours
- The student must be rated “competent” in the chosen elective area as well as either financial reporting OR management accounting
- *students planning to pursue a public accounting license must pass the assurance and taxation courses from their previous PEP modules
- 4 hours
- Three multi-competency cases are used to evaluate the student’s breadth on the competency map
- Minimum RC (Reaching Competent) grade must be achieved for every individual competency
