Our Approach

The first thing we do is learn about your tutoring needs, schedule, and your child’s Hebrew background so we can match you with a tutor who best suits your child’s specific needs and learning style.

We pride ourselves on taking an individualized approach to our Bar Mitzvah and Bat Mitzvah tutoring. This is an important day in your child’s life, so we want to make sure they are fully prepared regardless of their prior experience. That’s why we create a custom lesson plan for each student that helps them actually learn and apply the material.

Do you have multiple children preparing for their Bar or Bat Mitzvahs? No problem! We offer group tutoring on an as-needed basis whenever you’re ready. Available both online and in-person, we do everything we can to match your busy lifestyle and your child’s personal learning needs.

When the time comes for your child to start their Bar Mitzvah or Bat Mitzvah prep, some of the information we’ll need includes:

  • 1
What kind of service will your child be preparing for?
  • 2
What level of experience does your child have with Hebrew?
  • 3
Are you planning on a Reform or more traditional service?
  • 4
What parts of the service does your child need help with?
  • 5
What are your best days/times to meet with a tutor?
  • 6
Do you prefer in-person or online tutoring?

New to Bar Mitzvah and Bat Mitzvah prep? Here’s some background:

Traditionally, Bar Mitzvahs and Bat Mitzvahs are coming of age ceremonies signaling that the child is now responsible for their own actions. Each service is unique, though they usually involve the child reading a passage from the Torah and leading a discussion about that passage.

It is most commonly recommended that students take around 10-12 months for their Bar Mitzvah and Bat Mitzvah studies. Of course, this greatly depends on your child’s prior experience with Hebrew and the type of service your family is planning.

Don’t know where to start?

Our Bar and Bat Mitzvah prep tutors are here to help! In addition to helping you set up a customized study schedule, your tutor will help determine what your child’s strengths and weaknesses are so you know how to plan out their Bar or Bat Mitzvah studies.

Train up a child in the way he should go and even when he is old he will not depart from it. Proverbs 22. 6
