Our Approach
We start off by learning as much as we can about our ASVAB students’ background in academia. In order to provide effective and personalized tutors, it is important that we understand your history and struggles in math, the sciences, vocabulary, and more. Some of the information we seek includes:
-
1When did you begin your ASVAB test prep?
-
2What is your highest level of education?
-
3How did you perform in courses when you were a student?
-
4Have you taken a full-length ASVAB practice test?
-
5If yes, how did you score on each section?
-
6Are you struggling with content?
-
7Are you struggling with strategy?
-
8What are your best days/times of availability to meet with a tutor?
-
9Do you prefer in-person or online tutoring?
-
10What are your goals moving forward?
After we learn about each student and their foundations in the topics covered on the exam, our team then matches you with the best tutor who matches your availability and your specific ASVAB needs.
We specialize in taking an individualized approach to ASVAB private tutoring with every student. Our ASVAB tutors create a customized plan of attack for each student, one that is tailored to the student’s strengths and areas for improvement. In addition, we provide free Barron’s ASVAB book to every student, which includes practice tests and instructional information.
We also offer small group ASVAB tutoring when requested. The ASVAB test prep groups are formed on an as-needed basis, so whether you are an individual looking to form a group or a group of friends/colleagues who want to save some money, just contact us to form an ASVAB study group. Group ASVAB tutoring is offered both online and in-person.
Just starting your ASVAB prep? Here’s some information about the ASVAB exam:
The ASVAB is offered in two formats: either as a computerized exam (CAT-ASVAB) or as a paper and pencil exam (P&P-ASVAB). The computerized exams are administered in two different locations, the Military Entrance Processing Station (MEPS) and at satellite locations called a Military Entrance Test (MET) site. The computerized exam is offered at all MEPS sites, whereas the paper and pencil exam is offered at mostly MET sites.
The CAT-ASVAB test is responsive, which means it presents questions with difficulty levels that respond to the test taker’s performance. This means, if you are consistently answering questions of a high difficulty level correctly, then you will continue to see questions of a high difficulty level. So the test questions differ for every test taker. The average examinee takes completes the CAT-ASVAB in about 1.5 hours. You are not able to review or change your answers once you have submitted an answer on the CAT-ASVAB.
The P&P-ASVAB is a traditional exam, and every test taker is presented with the same set of questions. It takes about 3 hours to complete the P&P-ASVAB. You are allowed to review your answers on the P&P-ASVAB. However, you cannot go back to an earlier test section, or proceed to the next test until instructed to do so.
